Down in Cheshire not far from Macclesfield is the Jodrell Bank discovery centre where you can find the Lovell Radio telescope and a whole host of things to do.
The radio telescope is absolutely amazing and the massive structure can be seen across the Cheshire plain.
The gardens in which the telescope is housed are a joy to visit themselves, with plenty of locations to enjoy a picnic, at the discovery centre the whole family can explore the wonders of the universe, there is a Planet pavilion where you can discover our place in the universe.
In addition within the space pavilion you can learn how scientists explore the galaxies and try and answer such questions as what is a black hole? What does the telescope observe? How did the Universe begin?
The complex provides a cafe overlooking the telescope with a large patio which can be enjoyed in finer weather and serves everything from hearty breakfasts to delicious lunches and afternoon tea.
Finally as we mentioned earlier, the grounds of the discovery center are the perfect place for families, set in 35 acres and containing thousands of trees and shrubs it is an oasis of peace but still provides ample opportunity for children to discover more about the universe.
